Family policies
What families ask us most before a child starts.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they feel well. Because the morning is outside, a child also needs to feel well enough to play in the cold or the heat. If your child is unwell at school, we call you to pick up.
Drop-off and pickup
Only the adults you listed when you enrolled may pick up, and we ask for ID at the gate. We hand children over at the gate, not in the grove.
Late pickup
If you are running late, call or text the school. A teacher stays with your child until you arrive. What happens if it repeats is explained when you enroll.
Meals, snacks and allergies
We share a morning snack of fruit, bread and water. On long days, families send lunch from home. We ask families not to send nuts. If your child has allergies, tell us on the tour, and we ask for the details privately once you enroll.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for school holidays, the winter break and the summer break. On a weather day the morning moves to the indoor base; the school is not closed, and we message families by 7:00 a.m.
Screens and phones
Children do not use screens at school. We ask adults to keep their phones in a pocket or a bag while they are in the grove.
What to wear and bring
Dress for the weather in layers that can get muddy: a rain jacket and rain pants, boots, a hat and a spare set of clothes in the backpack. Sunscreen goes on at home.
